DataSource 4.1
September 30, 2021
Rich Content Hosting
DataSource rich content components, such as Product Images or Product Features, are now available for real-time on-demand delivery. You now have a choice to download and store this rich content on your servers (as you do today), or access these digital assets directly from CNET real-time.
To ensure the highest level of service availability and responsiveness, CNET partnered with Limelight Networks, Inc. Limelight is a content delivery partner for thousands of entertainment, technology, enterprise, and government entities around the world. Their highly scalable, on-demand managed infrastructure provides global reach and consistently high availability, by routing traffic over a private fiber-optic backbone rather than through the often-congested, unpredictable public Internet.
To enable real-time content delivery, CNET migrated digital content URLs from the old digitalcontent.cnetchannel.com domain to cdn.cs.1worldsync.com. The structure of the old and new URLs is the same: just domain names are different. Both old and new URLs link to the same content elements. The old digital content links will remain accessible for at least the next 12 months. All the new links are provided using the new domain name. The previously distributed links will be gradually replaced with the new ones.
This rich content hosting option is available to all DataSource customers as an improvement to your existing subscription. To use this option, simply integrate the image links from the DataSource Download.zip Digital Content tables as desired.
Multiple Product Images
In our ongoing efforts to increase rich content in key categories, we have expanded coverage for multiple product images in the following categories:
- Printers
- Multifunction & Office Machines
- GPS Receivers
- Blu-ray & DVD
Please note this is in addition to the key categories launched in the DataSource 4.0 release, which included:
- Televisions
- Monitors
- Notebooks
- Cameras/Camcorders/DVRs
Extranet Improvements
There have been several improvements to the Customer Extranet, including:
- Customer Account Settings are now visible. From the Extranet, Click Settings > Service Setup to see all the DataSource settings and options active for your account.
- Product Features (extended version of Key Selling Points) are now available on the Key Selling Points tab of the SKU Detail page.
- Removed the 500 SKU limitation of SKU search results.
- Added “Records on Page” drop down to select the desired number of records shown on search results pages.
- The ability to export a complete list of SKUs in the Export File (Generate function). There is no longer a 30k limit.
- The addition of a Save As dialog box when a large Export File is generated, so you can save the file, instead of opening it in the browser.
